Local know-how
- Don't bring alcohol to local inhabited islands — it is illegal
- Don't touch or stand on coral — it takes decades to grow and is globally endangered
- Local SIM: Dhiraagu or Ooredoo Maldives. Buy at Male airport. Coverage only near inhabited islands.
- Pocket tissues: some island toilets are squat-style or limited
