very safeSalisbury is a very safe small English cathedral city. Crime rates are low. The city gained unwanted notoriety from the 2018 Novichok poisoning incident but that was an isolated targeted attack with no ongoing risk to tourists. The city centre, Cathedral Close, and Market Square are all safe at all times. Stonehenge (10 miles away) requires a car or organised tour — the A303 road is busy and has no pedestrian access to the stones without English Heritage tickets. When driving to Stonehenge avoid the A303 at rush hours. Emergency: 999.

Salisbury is an extremely safe cathedral city for solo women. Cathedral Close, Market Square, and the city centre are all very safe at all times. The Stonehenge area involves driving on busy roads — use official shuttle services.
