safePhiladelphia's historic core (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Old City, Center City) is very safe for tourists. North Philadelphia, Kensington (the "open air drug market" — one of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in the USA), and parts of West Philadelphia should be entirely avoided by tourists. The SEPTA (subway) can be rough late at night — use Uber/Lyft after midnight.
