Safety
safe with awarenessNaples (Napoli) is vibrant and mostly safe in tourist areas but requires vigilance. Scooter bag-snatching ("scippo") happens — carry bags across your chest, not hanging from one shoulder. Spaccanapoli and the historic centre are compelling and safe by day; Quartieri Spagnoli is safe with its own local life. Avoid Scampia, Secondigliano, and Ponticelli. At night, stick to Via San Gregorio Armeno, Piazza del Gesù, and Chiaia district. Emergency: 118, 113.
Women travellers
Safe in tourist areas. Be confident and aware. Avoid isolated areas at night.
