Safety
safeLondon is generally very safe. Use contactless payment rather than carrying cash. Keep bags zipped on the Tube and in crowded markets. Phone theft ("phone snatching") is the most common crime — avoid using your phone on the street in busy areas like Oxford Street and Brixton. Tap-and-pay card fraud is rare but use official ATMs only. Emergency: 999 (police, ambulance, fire).
Women travellers
Very safe for solo women travellers. City centre, tourist landmarks, and Tube system are well-policed. Avoid walking alone in very isolated areas of parks (Hyde Park, Victoria Park) after dark. Black cabs are licensed and regulated — always the safest option at night.
Culture & etiquette
- + Queue properly - Brits take queuing seriously
