Safety
safeThe Dolomites are one of Europe's most beautiful mountain ranges and are very safe for tourists. Mountain hiking requires proper equipment — trails are rated easy to expert, snowfields persist well into June at altitude. Always check local trail conditions before setting out. Via Ferrata (fixed-rope climbing routes) require harness and helmet — do not attempt without experience. Mountain rescue (CNSAS) is excellent. Summer thunderstorms can arrive rapidly — head down from exposed ridges if weather turns. Emergency: 118, 112. Mountain rescue: 0471 797 171.
Women travellers
Extremely safe. Mountain community is friendly and protective.
