Safety
safeCannes is glamorous and generally safe. Festival periods (May Film Festival, MIPIM) bring very dense crowds — pickpockets operate near the Palais des Festivals and the Croisette during these events. La Bocca (western residential district) is rougher and has no tourist value. Ordinary pickpocket vigilance is sufficient for the main tourist areas. Emergency: 15, 17, 18.
Women travellers
Cannes is safe for solo women. The Croisette boulevard, Marché Forville, and Le Suquet old town are all safe and well-policed, especially during the Film Festival. Keep bags close in crowded areas during events. La Bocca (western Cannes) and some back streets off the Banane area should be avoided late at night.
