Safety
very safeBath is one of England's safest cities — a well-maintained, tourist-friendly UNESCO World Heritage city. Violent crime is very rare. Pickpocketing can occur around the Roman Baths and Thermae Bath Spa queues during busy summer months — keep bags zipped. Avoid the parks after dark (Royal Victoria Park, Alexandra Park). Students make the city lively at night but it remains safe. The River Avon towpath at night is isolated — avoid if alone. Emergency: 999.
Women travellers
Bath is very safe for solo women. The city centre, spa areas, and university districts are well-lit and safe at all hours. Avoid Royal Victoria Park after dark when isolated.
